Haiku Poem – 太極拳

hills move up
float gently wings spread
sides flow down

両翼や肩から浮揚丘の上
りょうよく や かた から ふよう おか の うえ

In Tai Chi, the movements are very slow and are supposed to be done with little energy. So, when the arms are lifted, the motion begins with the shoulders. As the shoulders move up, the arms begin to rise. Once the arms reach shoulder level, they start to gently move down. The motion should be fluid like a bird flapping its wings.

 太極拳は、体のエネルギーを出来るだけ使わないで、すべての動きを非常にゆっくりする必要があります。ですから、例えば、腕を上げる時、動きは、肩から持ち上げ始めます。肩が上がると、腕は自然に上がり始めます。腕が肩の高さに達したら、ゆっくり下ろし始めます。動きは、鳥が翼を広げて羽ばたくように滑らかです。
